KLF Striders Spring 2008
Kids Living Fit is an after-school fitness and running program designed for elementary and middle school aged kids. In Spring 2007 Kids Living Fit was selected for Inova Hospital's Best Practice Award for creating a healthier community. The program is currently offered in select Northern Virginia schools in Loudoun and Fairfax counties by Good Sport Fitness LLC. For the Winter of 2009, Kids Living Fit will team up with Loudoun Performance Clinic to offer KLF Strider programs for Eastern Loudoun (Lansdowne).
The KLF Striders Winter 2009 session will begin on Monday, January 5, 2009. This will be a nine-week session.
This program will teach your children basic running and speed skills. The purpose of this program is to increase your child's fitness level and teach them a new healthy pastime. Go to the KLF Lansdowne Striders page for more information on the program.
The Claude Moore 5K on Saturday, May 12, 2007 was a fun race with a wild trail. The team had to take on swinging tree branches, broken bridges, mud, passing on a tight trail and a crazy water fight between Dani and Franklin.
The Daisy Dash was our final run of the season and what an end it was! We had eleven racers at the GOTR Daisy Race in Fairfax on May 19, 2007. All of our runners beat their previous race and trial times. We had three kids receive trophies with Gracie finishing 1st (20.13) and Maja finishing 4th (22.15) in the 9-10 girls group, and Chris finishing 2nd (20.10) in the 13-14 boys group. In addition to our winners, Stephanie, Andrew, Taylor and John took 3 or more minutes off of their last 5K time. We also had our first time racers Amber, Morgan and McKenzie all finishing in the top 250 out of 2800 runners. Both Stephanie (77) and Amber (81) finished in the top 100. A special congratulations goes out to Abby W., who was my running partner during this race. She had never completed a 3 mile practice run before the race and came in at a 9.41pace to complete her first 5K time at 30.04.
